It’s hard to describe something when you’ve become part of it.

Where do I end and you begin? I can’t quite tell anymore.

And yet, with you, I have never felt more like myself.

I was this sister for such a long time.

Writing this felt like looking back at a version of me who kept making herself smaller, quieter, easier.. and calling it love.

“Honesty without compassion is just cruelty with good intentions.”

I notice many facilitators ~even therapists~ think confronting someone with their shadow is courage. Calling it out directly, naming what they see.
“I see you anyway, there’s no point hiding.”

But trust must be built before we come to the confrontation if needed. And until someone feels safe enough, every confrontation just thickens the armor.
Breaking people open is not the work.
Creating a space where they no longer need to stay closed, is.

For a long time, I truly believed my misery was caused by other people, situations, things.

The ones who were dishonest.
The work that drained me.
The society that outcast me.

At some point, I started noticing a pattern I couldn’t ignore anymore.
I wasn’t just experiencing these things
I was, in some way, choosing them.

It was confusing at first.
I obviously didn’t want them, then why was I choosing them?
This inquiry brought me to the parts of me that were still carrying old pain.

The part of me that felt abandoned kept choosing people who couldn’t stay.
The part of me that felt betrayed kept finding situations that confirmed it.
The part of me that believed “responsibility over joy” built a life that looked right
but didn’t feel right.

And that realization was uncomfortable.
Because it meant I had to stop looking outward
and start meeting what was happening inside of me.

I began to see that emotions don’t disappear when we push them down.
They wait.
And they find ways to be felt; through our relationships, our choices, even our bodies.

Learning to feel, instead of suppress, changed everything for me.
And somewhere along that path,
this work stopped being just about me.

I found myself holding space for others
who were also tired of repeating the same patterns,
ready to meet the parts of themselves they had been avoiding.

What I once experienced as confusion and pain
became the very path I now walk with others.
